Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge took a dig at Nirmala Sitharaman and said, “Mataji is an expert in speaking”
During the discussion on the Union Budget, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has sharply criticized Nirmala Sitharaman and the Central Government. During this, Kharge attacked the government and said that this is discrimination against the states. Kharge said that in the Union Budget, the plate of all the states except Andhra Pradesh and Bihar has remained empty. Taking the names of states like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Karnataka, he said, “No state got anything.” Kharge also alleged that the budget was only to please some people and save the chair.
Taking a dig at Nirmala Sitharaman, who represents Karnataka in the Rajya Sabha, the Congress President said, “I expected that I would get the most. But we got nothing.” Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar asked Nirmala Sitharaman to respond. On this, Kharge quipped, “Let me speak first. I know that Mataji is an expert in speaking.” Before leaving the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge told the media that the Congress Party will strongly oppose this budget. He said, “All this has happened to save the chair. We will condemn it and oppose it. India Alliance will oppose it. If there is no balance, how will there be development?”
Finance Minister replied
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman denied the allegations of discrimination and said that it is not possible to name every state in the budget speech. Referring to the proposed port in Palghar district, Sitharaman said, “I take Maharashtra for example. In yesterday's budget, the cabinet has decided to build a port in Vadhavan.” The Finance Minister asked, “Was Maharashtra ignored because it was not named? Rs 76,000 crore has been announced for that project.” Calling the opposition's allegation insulting, Sitharaman accused the Congress party of deliberately misleading the public. Sitharaman said, “I am saying with responsibility that the opposition parties led by the Congress are deliberately misleading the people that there is no plan for their states.”
