As the polling for the Lok Sabha elections is over, preparations for the Legislative Assembly elections have begun in Karnataka. On Sunday, the Congress party also released the list of candidates for the elections. Congress will win 7 seats out of total 11 constituencies based on numbers and now Congress has announced its candidates for those seats. In the list released by the Congress, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's son Yathindra Siddaramaiah will also contest the MLC election. At the same time, BJP has also announced the names of 3 candidates for the election. Apart from Yathindra Siddaramaiah, the list of candidates includes incumbent Minister NS Bhosaraju, Chief Minister's Political Secretary Dr. K. Govind Raju, Vasanthkumar, Jagdev Kuthedar, Evan D'Souza, Balkis Bano have been announced as candidates. Basanagowda Patherli has been nominated for the post left vacant by the resignation of Jagadish Shetter. Last day to file nomination tomorrow (June 3) Congress has announced the candidates for the Legislative Assembly seat at the last minute. NS Bosaraju, Acting President Vasanthkumar and Jagdev Guttedar have been announced tickets under High Command quota. Despite opposition from Raichur leaders, NS Bosaraju is likely to be re-elected. Voting will be held on June 13. Yathindra, who gave up his seat to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, will also go to the Upper House. Dr. K. Govind Raju has been given a third chance. Evan D'Souza and Balkis Bano have been fielded as surprise picks under Minority Fort. Meanwhile, Basanagowda Paterli has been announced as the candidate for the by-election for the vacant councilor post due to the resignation of Jagadish Shetter. All the candidates will file their nominations tomorrow and the election will be held on June 13. While the BJP has fielded three candidates, the opposition BJP in Karnataka has also released its list of candidates. Former minister CD Ravi, current MLC N. Ravikumar and party president Dr. MG Mule have been fielded as candidates on behalf of the BJP. BJP is likely to win only 3 out of 11 constituencies based on numbers. So BJP has announced only three candidates. There was widespread talk of sending a seat to CD Ravi, who had lost the Assembly elections. Former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa had hinted about this recently. Also, in the core committee meeting, the names of many people, including Siti Ravi, Sadananda Gowda, Nalin Kumar Kadil, who were deprived of Lok Sabha seats, were also sent to the higher level. Ultimately the high-level committee decided to give the ticket to City Ravi. The high command said no to these names, and this time BJP state president and Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Katil, Bengaluru North MP and former chief minister Sadananda Gowda were also denied tickets. He was also told that he might get an Assembly ticket. But the high level committee did not consider them.
