South Delhi: A clash broke out between the Delhi government minister and LG over the issue of felling of 1100 trees to build a road in Chatbari village in South Delhi's Chattarpur area. On Tuesday, a fact-finding team of Delhi government ministers inspected the spot. The panel will submit its report on July 12 before the hearing in the Supreme Court. Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, who came to inspect the spot, said: “Earlier there was a full forest here. The farmhouse would have been demolished if the road was to be widened here. For this, the farm houses of the rich could have been acquired, but here 1100 trees have been cut and removed, he said. The Delhi government has accused Lt Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena. Who cares about the welfare of the people of Delhi – Delhi government minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said trees were cut even though the Supreme Court refused permission. He said concessions worth crores of rupees were given to farm houses and owners. As a result, the price of his farmhouse has doubled. Action should be taken against those who have given the permission if they act illegally. 1100 trees have been felled in the ridge area, and houses have been built for the Central Armed Forces Hospital and CBI officers in South Delhi's Satbari village. Roads are being widened to reach here and access roads are being constructed. It has been alleged that 1100 trees have been cut in the ridge area. The issue came to light when an NGO went to court against this. Delhi government accuses LG: The Delhi government has alleged that the trees were cut on the orders of Delhi Lt. Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena. This land comes under DDA and is under DDA LG. The Delhi government ministers are alleging that the LG itself has visited here several times for inspection. First 1100 trees were felled in Satbari and then permission was sought in the Supreme Court to cut the trees. This is a case of contempt of court order. The Supreme Court sought a report from the Delhi government and the DDA, after which the Delhi government set up a fact-finding committee. The panel includes three Delhi government ministers Saurabh Bhardwaj, Adishi Singh and Imran Hussain. The committee is expected to submit its report on July 12 before the hearing in the Supreme Court.
