China Spacecraft News: China says a spacecraft carrying samples of rock and soil from the far side of the Moon has departed from the lunar surface and is headed back to Earth.
The China National Space Administration said the Chang'e-6 spacecraft's ascender took off on Tuesday morning Beijing time and entered a pre-determined orbit near the moon. The spacecraft was launched last month and its lander landed on the far side of the moon on Sunday.
The spacecraft collected the samples in a container inside the spacecraft's “ascender” as per the plan, Xinhua news agency quoted the space agency as saying.
