I know Dr. Sharan since childhood, he was my senior in St. John's School. His younger brother is a year younger than me, and as we go to school together, our relationship is very close and intimate. Whenever a difficult situation arises, it is customary to ask him for a solution. I went to JNU for further studies, but our relations continued. Whenever we met, we talked a lot and our thoughts were the same. We did research together. We wrote several research papers together. We did research together on labor economics. Even though we don't work together, I get his advice and he gives great advice. That is why I considered him as my best friend and mentor. He always said that if you want to make your voice known to the public, write your views not only in newspapers but also in newspapers. Dr. Ramesh Sharan was a great teacher who was a very simple and easy going person. He was also an excellent teacher. While teaching students, he taught even difficult subjects in a simple way that anyone could easily understand. He also taught students how to teach. The teacher always tells the student to give a positive stroke, only then the student can perform better. He had a great rapport with his students and was an example of how teachers should relate to students. He is not only an economist but also a sociologist. He is very simple and this is the specialty of his personality. He understood Jharkhand and its problems very well. I worked with him on food rights. Apart from this we also worked together. Both of us were Supreme Court Counsel. He also played an important role in the Jharkhand movement. We have been working on PESA Act since 1996. He was a personality about whom one could say he was right. Dr. Sharan is a great personality: Mithilesh, a student of Dr. Sharan, associated with Progressive Writers Association, is our teacher. I have known him since 1987 when I came to study at Ranchi University. The first time I saw him, he brought me to a class. Then he had chalk on his hands and chalk on his shirt. He came with register and duster in hand. Seeing his image, it seemed that this is what a teacher should look like. I studied a lot with him outside the classroom as well. He was my mentor and I learned from him throughout my life. He was not a member of the Progressive Writers' Association, but he came and guided the programs whenever he was invited. He tried to explain the economic sense of literature. He had organized a campaign to return to the university campus. He said what would the teachers do if there were no students. I also participated in his campaign. He always thought how to solve the problems of students.
