Champions League: Borussia Dortmund beats Atletico Madrid 4-2 to reach semi-finals

Borussia Dortmund displayed aggressive performance and entered the semi-finals of the Champions League football by defeating Atletico Madrid 4-2 at home. With a 2–1 result in the first leg, Dortmund won 5–4 on aggregate. By scoring two goals in the first half itself, Dortmund cleared the way for a place in the last-4. Atletico made a comeback in the second half and leveled the score at 2-2.

For Dortmund, Julian Brandt scored in the 34th minute, Ian Mattsson in the 39th minute, Niklas Faulkurg in the 71st minute and Marcel Sabitzer scored in the 74th minute. Mats Hummels of Dortmund scored a suicide goal in the 49th minute. Angel Correa scored for Atletico in the 63rd minute. 80 thousand spectators were present in the stadium to watch this match. Atlético has not reached the semi-finals for the last seven years. This is the third time in the last five seasons that they have lost in the quarterfinals.
