Campaign against vehicles parked illegally on the roadside will start from Saturday

The government is determined to provide better facilities to the pilgrims coming for Chardham Yatra. Under this, a campaign will be launched from May 4, Saturday, against vehicles parked illegally on the roadside before the Chardham Yatra is conducted. The Chief Secretary has given instructions to take strictest action to run the campaign.

On Friday, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi held a meeting on traffic management with Director General of Police, Commissioner Garhwal, DM Dehradun, Tehri and Pauri and Senior Superintendent of Police Dehradun, Tehri and Pauri at the Secretariat. During this time, to improve the traffic system in Rishikesh, Laxmanjhula, Munikireti, Tapovan and Srinagar before the commencement of Chardham Yatra, instructions have been given to take the strictest action by running a campaign against vehicles parked illegally on the roadside from Saturday. In Dehradun also, a campaign will be launched against vehicles parked illegally on the roadside from Saturday.

CS Radha Raturi has instructed the District Magistrates to immediately send long-term proposals to the government for traffic management and take short-term corrective steps immediately.

In relation to the problem of illegal parking of vehicles parked on the roadside in Rishikesh and the traffic jams caused by it, the Chief Secretary has given instructions to make arrangements for parking of tourist vehicles in private lands near the rafting sites and camping in Rishikesh.

The Chief Secretary has instructed the officers that the trend of parking vehicles on the roads should not be tolerated under any circumstances and strict and prompt action should be taken against it. Along with this, action will also be taken against such hotel and restaurant owners who are not making adequate parking arrangements for their employees and customers and are promoting illegal parking on the roads.

CS has also given instructions to run a campaign against encroachment on the roads. To deal with the problem of traffic jams at various places, Radha Raturi has given instructions to immediately send proposals for widening of various narrow roads including Neelkanth to the government.

The Chief Secretary said that for the convenience of Chardham pilgrims, it is very important to fix the traffic management before the journey. He has also instructed the District Magistrates to work on the proposals for alternative routes of the Chardham Yatra route.
