By-elections to six assembly constituencies in Himachal will decide the future of the Suku government
On the occasion of the Lok Sabha elections, polling will be held on June 1 for four constituencies in Himachal Pradesh. On the other hand, in Himachal Pradesh, by-elections are going on for all 6 assembly constituencies. These by-elections will decide the future of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sugu's government in Himachal. The credibility of the Suku government has been questioned by this election. In Himachal, by-elections are being held in Sujanpur, Dharamshala, Lahaul-Spiti, Barsar, Kagret and Kudlahar. In this, rebel leaders Rajinder Rana, Sudhir Sharma, Devinder Kumar Bhutto, Chaitanya Sharma, Inder Dutt Laganpal and Ravi Thakur contested on behalf of BJP. Due to this, it remains to be seen whether the Sukku government's opinion will hold on to these seats or the government will suffer badly and this will be a big opportunity for the BJP to regain power. During the budget session of Himachal Pradesh, the rebels joined the BJP on allegations that the Congress party had violated the rules of the whip. Subsequently, 6 assembly seats became vacant. These MLAs voted for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Rajya Sabha elections on February 29 and later all the MLAs joined the BJP. After that, now all these MLAs contested on behalf of BJP in the by-elections held in their regions. The by-election will decide Chief Minister Sukku's future in this election. The by-election results of these 6 constituencies will have a major impact on Chief Minister Sukku's political future. This is an opportunity for the BJP, which suffered defeat in the 2022 assembly elections, to regain lost ground. Out of the total 68 assembly constituencies in 2022, Congress won 40 seats, BHP 25 seats and others 3 seats. However, in 2014 and 2019, the BJP won all Lok Sabha seats in Himachal Pradesh.
