British Parliament approves Rwanda deportation bill, relief to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
Rwanda Deportation Bill: The British Parliament finally approved the Rwandan Deportation Bill after two months of debate. This has brought a lot of relief to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak before the general elections.
Prime Minister Sunak expressed hope that flights to Rwanda would start by July. The Rwanda Bill aims to stop refugees coming to Britain illegally. Under this, illegal refugees will be sent to Rwanda, for which a treaty has been signed with the government there.
The British Government has also made some advance payment to Rwanda for this. Under the proposal, refugees would be able to apply for British citizenship after being deported to Rwanda. Those who are approved will settle in the UK, but those whose applications are rejected will be deported back to their home countries.
According to the report, in the year 2022, 45,744 illegal refugees reached Britain by crossing the English Channel in small boats. This bill was stuck in the House of Lords, the upper house of Britain. Finally, early Tuesday, he accepted the presidency of the elected House of Commons. Earlier on Monday morning, PM Sunak held a surprise press conference and urged the House of Lords not to block the Rwanda bill.
The Supreme Court also banned the Rwanda bill, calling it against human rights. SC said, when Britain itself considers African country Rwanda unsafe then how can it send refugees there. On this the government brought the Ravada Security Bill. British Home Secretary James Cleverly posted on Twitter that the Rwanda Security Bill has been approved by Parliament and will become law in a few days.
