Bringing home a dog? Safest breeds for you
Due to a rise in dog attacks, including some fatalities, a ban has been placed on the import, sale, and breeding of 23 specific dog breeds considered “ferocious.” These include Pitbulls, Rottweilers, Mastiffs, Wolf Dogs, and Bulldogs. The ban also covers mixed breeds with these types of dogs.
This decision came after a committee of animal experts and welfare groups submitted a report to the Delhi High Court.
However, the need for furry friends isn’t going anywhere! If you’re looking for a first pet, it’s important to choose wisely. To help you out, we’ve compiled a list of the top 5 safest dog breeds for adoption!

These adorable little charmers are compact and playful. Pugs are known for their loving personalities and low energy levels, making them perfect for apartments or smaller living spaces. They require relatively little maintenance and love to cuddle on the couch. However, their compressed faces can make breathing difficult in hot weather, so plan walks during the peak of summer.
2. Beagles

These cheerful pups are known for their friendly and curious nature. Beagles are intelligent and love to play, making them great companions for families with children. Their keen sense of smell also makes them great watchdogs! However, their strong hunting instincts can lead them to chase smaller animals, so leash training is key.
3. Indian Spitz

This lively breed is native to India and has adapted well to the climate. Indian Spitzes are loyal and protective of their families, making them good watchdogs. They are also relatively low maintenance and have a short coat that does not require extensive grooming. However, their playful barking can sometimes get out of control, which is why constant training is necessary.

These gentle giants are known for their friendly and outgoing nature. Labradors are very easy to train and eager to please, making them excellent family dogs. They are energetic but not hyperactive and love spending time outdoors. Just be prepared for their playful chewing tendencies when young, and their love of swimming may require frequent trips to dog-friendly waters.
5. Dachshunds

These short-legged charmers come in two coat types (smooth and wiry) and are full of personality. Dachshunds are loyal and affectionate to their family, but can be wary of strangers.
