Booked Movie Tickets Or Flight Passes? Google Will Add Them To Wallet Via Gmail’s Help; All You Need To Know

Search leader Google regularly introduces tweaks for its suite of apps and services. In a recent move, the company has eased the process to make your life a little easier at a cinema hall and airport.

Spotted by Android expert Mishaal Rahman, the new feature in Google Wallet will automatically add movie tickets and flight passes once a user receives confirmation via email on Gmail after completing payment.

According to Google Wallet’s March 7 developers release note, the integration is live for some movie chains and airlines. The company is working to expand more businesses to the list. These are among Google’s recent attempts to make Wallet an enticing option for users.

“Movie tickets and boarding passes from Gmail are now surfaced in the Google Wallet when a user buys a ticket and gets a confirmation email in their Gmail. This integration is live for some global movie chains and airlines and we are working to expand this,” Wallet’s developer note said.

Apart from the official word, Rahman added users can “manually archive passes” in the app across smartphones and WearOS to the “Archived Passes” section. “Most passes can now be manually archived by users, which will move the pass down into the newly named ‘Archived Passes’ section (formerly known as ‘Expired Passes’),” Google said.

Moreover, the company added that the Flight Passes can use DATETIME to show the time and date on the front of the pass by default. The company also announced a US-exclusive beta feature, and said: “Loyalty cards saved to Wallet can now be used to highlight membership benefits while users browse your products on Google Search and Shopping.”

Moving to the new auto-import functionality, it only works on emails having a full QR code, 9To5Google reported. On a related note, the company recently announced the Google Pay app will not be available in the US from June 4, 2024. Users can continue to use features like tap to pay and payment method options from Google Wallet.
