BJD, SAD and BRS… Why are these 4 small parties in trouble after elections?

From Andhra in the south to Punjab in the north… the 2024 election results have increased tensions among the country's 4 regional parties. The defeat has exposed the rebellion within these parties. Even the positions of leaders of 2 out of 4 parties are at risk. Let's talk about Telangana's BRS first. The PRS, which has been in power for 10 years, is in a jam-like situation. Andhra's YSR Congress is the same. The situation is different for Punjab's Shiromani Akali Dal and Odisha's Biju Janata Dal PRS and YSR. There is no panic in these parties now, but infighting has certainly added to the problems of their leaders. In Telangana, which was in power for 10 years, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi has expelled 10 PRS leaders in 1 month. After the Lok Sabha elections, many senior leaders left the party. Among them K. Senior leaders like Kesav Rao and Thande Vittal are also included. If we look at the total number of exiting leaders, one Rajya Sabha member, 6 legislators, one MLA in the last one month. Congress is reportedly running Operation Agarsh to break the PRS in Telangana. The move was aimed at stripping the PRS of main opposition status. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is leading the initiative. The party has targeted the Congress over the PRS split. Recently, in his social media post, former Chief Minister KCR's son KTR said that Rahul Gandhi is against defection and Congress is busy breaking his party. Bharat Rashtra Samithi, earlier popularly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi was established in 2001. The party was founded with the demand of Telangana as a separate state. The party has won two seats in the central government and two times in the state government. Infighting in BJD: Biju Janata Dal, which has been in power for 24 years in Odisha, is not well. After the electoral defeat, there was a stir within the party due to infighting. First there was a ruckus at the review meeting in Bhubaneswar and now senior BJD leader Debashish Samantrai has dropped a big bomb about the defeat. Pranab Prakash Das is responsible for BJD's defeat along with VK Pandiyan, says Rajya Sabha MP Samantrai. Das looks after the organization of BJD and is considered close to Naveen Patnaik. Meanwhile, Naveen Patnaik dissolved the Odisha state executive committee amid the uproar in the party. The party will now prepare a new organization. After the debacle in the Lok Sabha polls, a front has opened up against Sukhbir Singh Badal in Shiromani Akali Dal. Recently, all the leaders talked about launching the Akali Bachao campaign under the leadership of party general secretary Prem Singh Chandumajra in Jalandhar. The demand of these leaders is that Sukhbir Singh Badal should be removed from the post of Akali leader. Under Sukhbir's leadership, the party lost the 2017-2022 assembly elections and the 2019-2024 Lok Sabha elections. In the recent Lok Sabha elections, SAD won only one seat. Andhra's YSR Congress also in trouble: After the elections, Andhra's YSR Congress party is also in trouble. On the one hand, many big and small leaders of the party are under the radar of the police, on the other hand, there is chaos in the party. Recently, Chittoor district mayor, deputy mayor and 15 councilors joined Telugu Desam Party. Local media reported that party leaders in several districts, including Nellore, are lining up to join the TDP. Police action is also being taken against many big leaders of the party. Apart from this, party offices are also being razed by bulldozers. The state government has put up notices in 18 offices of the YSR Congress. The government claims that the office was built illegally.
