Bihar by-election: Shankar Singh resigns from LJPR, Rupali contests by-election as independent

Bihar by-election: Shankar Singh, MLA from Purnia's Rupali assembly constituency, on Saturday resigned from the post of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) primary member. He also announced that he will contest as an independent candidate in Rupali constituency. He said that he will contest the election on the orders of the public. He will file his nomination on June 20. Shankar Singh, who won the election from Rupali constituency in 2005, expressed his deep dissatisfaction with the party leadership in his resignation letter and said that the party did not give him proper justice. Shankar Singh said that he had won the MLA election from Rupali Assembly in 2005 and had worked for the party with full dedication. He said that after the 2010, 2015 and 2020 assembly elections, he was assured and asked to prepare for the elections. But he didn't get a ticket. Angered by not getting a ticket, Shankar Singh said he was disappointed that he was not given a ticket in the by-election despite public demand. Shankar Singh said that he had hoped to be dropped as a candidate from the NDA alliance, but that did not happen. Due to this disappointment, he resigned from the post of the party's principal member and decided to contest the election as an independent. In his letter to the party's national president and state president, he said that he respects the party and will always be grateful. JDU gives ticket to Kaladar Prasad Mandal: Let us tell you that JDU's Kaladar Prasad Mandal has been nominated by NDA for the by-election from Rupali assembly constituency. Kaladhar Mandal also contested 2020 Rupali Assembly Election as an independent candidate. In that election, Bhima Bharti contested as a candidate on behalf of JTU and won. The seat fell vacant after Bhima Bharti's resignation, Rupali's former JTU MLA Bhima Bharti left the party to join R. Thus by-elections are held in Rurupauli. The filing of nominations for the by-election will be held till June 21. Scrutiny of nominations will be held till June 24. The date for withdrawal of nominations will be June 26 and polling will be held on July 10.
