Betting through government computers exposed in Nepal, two arrested
Kathmandu, July 9 (Tezzbuzz). Nepal Police has busted a racket of betting using the computer of a government office. Two employees of the office have been arrested in this case.
Nepal Police’s Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) revealed during interrogation of a crypto trader after his arrest a few days ago that betting was being done using all 64 computers in the headquarters of the government’s Technical and Vocational Training Council. CIB spokesperson SP Havindra Bogati told media persons that during the investigation it was found that betting was going on through several computers running from the same ISP number. When that ISP was investigated, the police were shocked.
Bogati said that during the investigation, when the location of that ISP was traced, it was found that this was being done using the computers of an important department under the Ministry of Education. The police raided and confiscated all the computers of the Technical and Vocational Training Council. After several days of investigation, two employees working in the same government office were arrested.
CIB said that two engineers of this government office involved in betting have been arrested. Rajendra Tamang and Vishwas Gurung were responsible for the maintenance of all the computers of this department. These two employees together did mining for crypto trading in all 64 computers. CIB spokesperson said that betting was done from IPL to Euro Cup.
