Bengaluru city police goes fully paperless, implements e-office system
Bengaluru city police B Dayananda commissioner on March 26 said they have implemented a paperless system (e-office) across all stations and offices, in alignment with the Mission Mode Project (MMP) under the National E-Governance Plan.
The move made Bengaluru city police go 100 percent paperless.
Dayananda, known for his tech-savvy initiatives such as starting the first police blog in 2005 during his tenure as Dakshina Kannada district’s superintendent of police, highlighted the transformative impact of the system.
“The adoption of e-office has streamlined administrative tasks like leave requests, promotions, and station maintenance,” he told Moneycontrol.”Gone are the days of searching for misplaced files. Information is now readily accessible, leading to enhanced processing and response times. The digital system fosters accountability and eliminates the challenges associated with managing physical documents. This marks a significant leap forward for the Bengaluru city police, as we remain dedicated to harnessing technology for a more efficient and transparent force,” he said.
Dayananda further elaborated on the benefits of the paperless initiative, emphasising improved efficiency, clutter reduction, enhanced transparency, and data management. “Even our old records are currently undergoing digitization, ensuring easy access without the need for physical files,” he said.
He said there are also plans to remove all almirahs/wardrobes from police stations and offices, citing benefits such as improved ventilation, space optimisation, and a conducive working environment for the staff.
