Before the election results, the Assembly Speaker accepted the resignation of three independent MLAs of Himachal Pradesh
New Delhi. A day before the results of the Lok Sabha elections, the Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly accepted the resignation of three independent MLAs. These three independent MLAs Krishan Lal Thakur, Hoshiar Singh and Ashish Sharma had submitted their resignation to Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania on March 22 and joined the BJP on March 23. Now by-elections will be held in three assembly constituencies of Himachal Pradesh, Nalagarh, Dehra and Hamirpur, within 6 months.

Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, while accepting the resignation, said that there was a delay due to the Lok Sabha elections, however, we did not take a harsh decision. Let us tell you that Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania also had the option of cancelling the membership of the three independent MLAs, because a petition was filed by ruling party Congress member and Himachal government minister Kuldeep Jagat Singh Negi under the anti-defection law to cancel the membership of the three independent MLAs. On the other hand, the three independent MLAs expressed happiness when the resignation was accepted. Krishan Lal Thakur, former MLA from Nalagarh, said 'Better late than never'.

Thakur said that he wanted the resignations of all the independent MLAs to be accepted earlier, so that Krishna Lal Thakur said that if BJP gives ticket in the assembly by-election, he will definitely contest the election. It is worth noting that on 27 February, BJP's Harsh Mahajan won the Rajya Sabha elections in Himachal Pradesh while Congress's Abhishek Manu Singhvi lost. The reason for Singhvi's defeat was that 6 MLAs of his own party rebelled and voted in favor of BJP. These 3 independent MLAs also voted for Harsh Mahajan. After this, the membership of all the rebels of Congress was canceled and all the three independent MLAs resigned from the assembly membership.
