The incident happened at a time when Bangladesh Army Chief Waqar-uz-Zaman is scheduled to address the nation tomorrow after 98 people were killed in fierce clashes. With this, the death toll since the protests that began last month has risen to more than 300. Hundreds of thousands of protesters demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Hasina have marched on the streets of the capital violating curfew.

Amid violent protests in Bangladesh, India has issued an advisory for its citizens. In view of the latest situation in Bangladesh, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strictly instructed Indian citizens not to travel to Bangladesh until further notice. India's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA) has also issued a helpline number for its citizens present in Bangladesh. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that in view of the current developments, Indian citizens are strictly advised not to travel to Bangladesh until further notice. All Indian citizens currently present in Bangladesh are advised to exercise extreme caution, limit their movements and stay in touch through the emergency phone numbers of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.

India on Sunday night advised all its citizens living in Bangladesh to exercise “extreme caution” and limit their movements amid violence in the neighboring country.
According to reports from Dhaka, at least 90 people, including 14 policemen, were killed in fierce clashes between security forces and anti-government protesters in various parts of Bangladesh on Sunday. The protesters are demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Student protests in Bangladesh began last month against a controversial job quota scheme. The protests have now turned into an anti-government movement. The protests are demanding reforms to the quota system for the country's civil service jobs, which reserves posts for specific groups, including descendants of those who participated in the 1971 independence war against Pakistan. On July 25, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that about 6,700 Indian students have returned from Bangladesh in view of the situation there.
