Azam Khan sentenced to 10 years in Dungarpur case, wife Tanseem Fatima says, 'This is the height of injustice'
Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Thursday in an 8-year-old case. 14 lakh fine was also imposed. The Rampur District Special Court gave this judgment in a case of forced eviction and demolition of a house. Assam's wife Tanseem Fatima has responded to this. Tanseem Fatima said the ten-year sentence imposed on Azam Khan was the height of injustice. He had nothing to do with the Dungarpur case. He was of course a minister in the government when this incident happened, but the plan was the government. The houses were built on the orders of the District Collector. All papers were in order. All officers of DUDA were present. 'Punishment has been given because it had to be given,' says Khan's wife, who was accused of demolishing houses in Dungarpur on Assam's orders. Punishments are not given at will. Punishment is based on evidence. There is no evidence against Azam, but punishment has been given because punishment must be given. His name is not in the FIR. Punishment is given only on the testimony of witnesses. On the other hand, in the case of Abdullah Azam's birth certificate, all the evidence was presented but nobody's testimony was accepted. Why this double standard? #WATCH | Rampur, UP: Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan's wife Daseen Fatima said, “…Azam Khan's 10-year jail term has crossed all bounds of injustice. We will fight against injustice till our last breath. He also answered about the Lok Sabha elections. From what he has seen since his release from prison, Fatima said, the public seems to want change. People want the government to change because they have their own grievances.
