Australia beat Scotland by seven wickets in T20 match
After a brilliant performance by the bowlers, Australia defeated Scotland by seven wickets with 62 balls to spare in the first T20 match on Wednesday, thanks to the stormy innings of Travis Head (80) and captain Mitchell Marsh (39). With this, Australia has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Australia, chasing the target of 155 runs, had a poor start and lost the wicket of Jake Fraser-McGurk (0) in the very first over.
After this, Captain Mitchell Marsh came to bat and handled the innings along with Travis Head. Both these batsmen batted in a stormy manner and made a record partnership of 112 runs in just 6.1 overs for the second wicket. Mark Watt broke this partnership by dismissing Mitchell Marsh. Marsh scored (39) runs in 12 balls by hitting three sixes and five fours. Travis Head scored (80) runs in 25 balls by hitting five sixes and 12 fours. Josh English (27) and Marcus Stoinis (8) remained unbeaten. Australia won the match by seven wickets by scoring 156 runs for three wickets in 9.4 overs.
Mark Watt took two wickets for Scotland. Brendon McMullen dismissed one batsman. Earlier, Australia won the toss and decided to bowl first. Scotland did not have a good start while batting and lost their first wicket in the form of Ollie Hairs (6) at a score of eight runs. However, after this George Mansi and Brendon McMullen handled the innings. Both batsmen added 44 runs for the second wicket. George Mansi (28), Brendon McMullen (19), captain Richard Berrington (23) played innings of runs. Matthew Cross (27), Mark Watt (16) and Jack Jarvis (10) were dismissed after scoring runs. Five batsmen could not reach double figures. Scotland scored a challenging score of 154 runs for nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Sean Abbott took three wickets for Australia. Xavier Bartlett and Adam Jampa got two wickets each. Riley Meredith and Cameron Green dismissed one batsman each.
