Arvind Kejriwal did not get relief, Supreme Court bench said, CJI will decide on extending the bail period

New Delhi. The Supreme Court refused to give any relief to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on his demand to extend his interim bail period. A bench of Justices JK Maheshwari and KV Vishwanathan has directed to list the petition before the Chief Justice of India Justice DY Chandrachud to pass appropriate orders. The bench said that only the CJI can give orders on this petition.

Senior advocate Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi mentioned Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's plea before the Supreme Court today, in which he has sought extension of the interim bail granted to him in the Delhi Liquor Policy. Singhvi demanded extension of the interim bail by a week so that Kejriwal's PET-CT scan prescribed by the doctors can be done. Let us tell you that the Supreme Court, ignoring all the arguments of the ED, granted interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal till June 1 for election campaign. Kejriwal will have to surrender on June 2. But before that, Kejriwal has sought extension of the interim bail period by 7 days, citing his poor health.

At the same time, reacting to this matter, BJP leader Dushyant Gautam said that Arvind Kejriwal is campaigning in Punjab today, does he not know that he is unwell. He is just pretending to be ill. If he is unwell then he should go to the hospital. He is just trying to deceive the people and the law, he will be punished for his sins.

On the other hand, BJP leader Kapil Mishra said, Kejriwal's plan is to first campaign and then fall ill before going to jail. He can pretend to faint, fall or look weak during the election campaign anytime so that the bail can be extended. This is a plan to play with the order of the Supreme Court.
