Apple is hiring employees to work with Vision Pro in some countries, hints at global launch
Since launching the Vision Pro in the US, Apple has been tight-lipped about its international rollout. While they confirmed the VR headset’s global availability, specific release dates remain under wraps.
However, recent reports hint at Apple’s plan to introduce the Vision Pro in additional countries, with expanding language support. Further supporting this global launch, a recent report by MacRumors highlighted that Apple has posted new job listings on their website seeking specialists for the Vision Pro in markets like Australia, China, and Japan.
The reports suggest that Apple might be preparing to introduce the Vision Pro in Australia, China, and Japan next. The company is seeking to fill positions for “Briefing Experience Specialists” within these regions and has officially released the job postings. These specialists will join Apple’s sales team to showcase the Vision Pro to corporate clients interested in exploring and purchasing the device. The job listing explicitly mentions the Vision Pro and its accompanying visionOS platform. Although Apple has currently removed the listing, it might be because either the position has been filled or Apple wants to restrict further speculations around the Vision Pro expansion. However, the developments around the VisionPro do hint that we can expect the global launch soon, perhaps before WWDC 2024.
According to a report by a Ming-Chi Kuo had previously noted that Apple’s initial US-only release was to ensure a seamless sales experience, given the product’s requirement for customers to find the right fit and prescription lenses. Nonetheless, Kuo suggests that Apple intends to expand its reach beyond the US, aiming for a wider release before the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in 2024. This move is expected to foster deeper interaction with developers via the much-anticipated visionOS 2 update.
As for the language expansion of Vision Pro, In a recent update from Mac Rumors, it was disclosed that new developments in Vision Pro’s code indicate Apple’s steps towards integrating a virtual keyboard, signalling the potential for the device to be offered in additional markets.
According to the report, citing the latest Vision Pro code, Apple is planning to incorporate 12 new languages into the virtual keyboard, hinting at the product’s impending global launch. Presently, the Vision Pro keyboard is compatible only with English (US) and Emoji, reflecting its exclusive availability in the United States. For a broader international release, Apple is expected to extend language support, a process currently underway. Mac Rumors has highlighted that the visionOS code points to upcoming compatibility of the virtual keyboard and autocorrect feature with the following languages- Cantonese Traditional, Chinese Simplified, English (Australia), English (Canada), English (Japan), English (Singapore), English (UK), French (Canada), French (France), German (Germany), Japanese, and Korean.
Although the addition of these languages does not confirm an immediate launch in all the specified regions, it strongly indicates Apple’s groundwork for launching Vision Pro in countries like Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Japan, and South Korea.
Regarding the US market, Apple has made the Vision Pro available starting from February 2. This new VR headset marks Apple’s first foray into wearable headset devices, providing an immersive mixed reality experience. The Vision Pro is currently priced at $3,499 in the US.
