Anything can be hacked… Musk's statement on EVMs sparks a big debate, Rajeev Chandrasekhar responds
A war of words has erupted between Elon Musk and former Union Minister Rajiv Chandrasekhar over India's Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). Regarding Electronic Voting Machines, Musk had said that EVMs should be abolished yesterday i.e. Saturday. There is a risk of being hacked. It can be hacked by humans or by AI. Although this risk is small, it is very high. BJP leader and former Union Minister Rajiv Chandrasekhar has responded to Musk's comment. EVM cannot be hacked. What Musk said is not true. They should come to India and learn something. Rajeev Chandrasekhar told all the advantages of EVM. Musk said no one can create secure digital hardware. His thinking is wrong. BJP chief Musk's thinking may apply in the US and elsewhere, where they use conventional computer platforms to build Internet-connected voting machines, but Indian EVMs are customized, secure and inaccessible to any network or media. No connectivity, no bluetooth, no wifi, no internet. It cannot be reprogrammed. Tesla and X owner Musk hit back at this statement by Rajiv Chandrasekhar. They say anything can be hacked. EVM is a black box in India – Rahul Congress president Rahul Gandhi has again raised questions about EVMs. After the 2024 Lok Sabha election results were declared, he commented for the first time on electronic voting machines. Rahul said that electronic voting machine is a black box in India. No one needs EVM test. Concerns have been raised about the transparency of the electoral process. When there is no accountability in institutions, democracy becomes bogus, he said. Chances of fraud increase.
