With the help of teachers, students and communities, more than 500 saplings are being planted in 3 bigha barren land.
Dumka News In Hindi: On the occasion of World Environment Day, all the students of Upkramit Madhya Vidyalaya Dumrathar of Jarmundi block, located in the remote tribal dominated area of Dumka district, have pledged to plant one tree each in their name. The Eco Club of the school has decided to convert the barren land into greenery.
It is known that due to the presence of rocky and barren land in the school premises and outside it, the environment is damaged. On the initiative of the school's Head Master Dr. Sapan Kumar Patralekha, more than 500 saplings are being planted in 3 bigha barren land with the help of parents, teachers and community. Before this, drawing and essay writing competitions were also organized among the children in the school. On this occasion, the school's Head Master informed that World Environment Day is being celebrated every year on 5 June since 1974, after discussions in the World Environment Conference organized by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972.
On World Environment Day 2024, the United Nations is organizing programs across the world on the theme of land restoration, desertification and drought tolerance. Under this, the main objective is to convert barren land, desert and dry land into greenery. World Environment Day is being celebrated in Dumrathar School on the theme of RSS.
Efforts are being made to make the barren land around the school campus fertile. He said that about 40% of our land has been ruined. Which is directly affecting half the world's population.
