What is initiation?
In which people abandon worldly attachments and adopt the path of restraint. In which people leave their wealth and property and set out on the path of penance. This ritual of Jain society is a difficult test. But not everyone gets initiation. Bhagwati initiation is considered very difficult in Jain society. In this, five Mahavratas like Truth, Non-violence, Aparigraha, Brahmacharya and Aucharya have to be followed. All worldly renouncers and initiates, after donating money, do not keep any kind of property with themselves throughout their life. These Jain nuns do not take food or water after evening, hence even in the afternoon they have to go from door to door for food. Also, the entire life has to be lived only through self-study, service and Vaayavaach without using electrical appliances.

Many programs take place before taking Jain Bhagwati Diksha. After the Swastika ceremony after the Mala Muhurta, Varshidan is organized for the initiates to donate their entire wealth. In earlier times, the initiates used to donate all their property to the people present on the public road, but now most of the people donate one after the other to the people present at the initiation site. This donation has great importance not only financially but spiritually and people accept it as a blessing of liberated souls. After Varshidan, a grand farewell program is organized which is very important for this big change in their life. After the farewell, the initiates change their clothes, wear colorful clothes and the white robes of the monks and also remove the hair from their bodies. Therefore, after a week of Guru Bhagwant teaching the initiates, their Vadi Diksha takes place in which they are fully recognized as Sadhus through a scriptural ceremony.
