ACP action after Vivek Vihar fire, probe into private hospitals
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has taken action after a fire broke out at Delhi's Vivek Vihar Hospital. The ACP has launched an inquiry into the registration and regulatory management of all private hospitals and nursing homes in capital Delhi. 7 children killed, many injured in Vivek Vihar fire In the last 48 hours, the ACP team visited 40 private medical centers in East Delhi and inspected them, PTI reported quoting officials. During this period, the team also found deficiencies in several medical centers. Also ACP team is inspecting and taking reports on security arrangements in hospitals and medical centers. ACP officials, headed by four inspector-level officers, have formed four teams to conduct inspections at the hospitals. It is said that it may take a few weeks for the team to survey all the private hospitals in the capital. On Friday, the team inspected at least 15 hospitals and nursing homes located in and around Vivek Vihar. The team is visiting all these hospitals, identifying the deficiencies and defects and preparing a report. On May 25, 7 children died in a fire accident at the Baby Care Hospital in Vivek Vihar. In this, 6 newborns died due to burns and suffocation. Five injured children were rescued during the incident, one of whom died on Friday. So far, 7 children have died in the incident. Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena on Tuesday ordered an ACP inquiry into the registration and management of private nursing homes in the capital following the hospital fire. On the orders of the Lt. Governor, the ACP formed a special team and initiated the investigation.
