ABVP and Left hold Mashal march ahead of JNUSU presidential debate
Additionally, the Congress’s student wing, the National Student Union, has candidates solely for the President and Vice President positions.
The results will be announced on March 24, two days after the voting.
On the night of March 19, both the left and ABVP organised torch marches inside the campus as a display of strength before the JNUSU presidential debate. Each year before the elections, presidential candidates from various student organisations deliver impassioned speeches. This year’s debate is set for March 20.
ABVP JNU orchestrated a torch procession from Ganga Dhaba to Chandrabhaga Hostel, with thousands of JNU students taking part. The campus reverberated with chants of “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Jai Jai Bharat Jai Jai Hind,” along with the names Umesh, Deepika, Arjun, and Govind – the candidates from ABVP’s central panel for the JNUSU elections.
The disciplined rhythms of Ghosh drums and bugles during the procession uplifted the spirits of the students.
Meanwhile, the United Left’s Mashal march started from Chandrabhaga Hostel to Ganga Hostel. Dhananjay from AISA, Avijit Ghosh from SFI, Swati Singh from DSF, and Sajid from AISF led the Mashal March as candidates for President, Vice-President, General Secretary, and Joint Secretary respectively.
Other student outfits like the Congress-affiliated National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Birsa Ambedkar Phule Students’ Association (BAPSA), and Samajwadi Chatra Sangathan (SCS) are also actively campaigning.
