Delhi-based Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan's judicial custody has been extended till October 7. He was arrested in a money laundering case for alleged irregularities in appointments when he was chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board. However, the Roose Avenue court has allowed his medical records to be taken into custody. Also, the court has sought a statement from the prison authorities. A money-laundering investigation against Amanatullah Khan has been initiated due to two FIRs, one filed by the CBI in irregularities related to the Delhi Waqf Board and the other filed by the Delhi Anti-Corruption Bureau for disproportionate assets. The ED has alleged that he received huge sums of money by illegally recruiting employees in the Delhi Waqf Board and invested them in buying immovable properties in the names of his accomplices. The agency said in a statement that employees were illegally recruited into the Waqf Board and that during Amanatullah Khan's tenure as chairman, the Waqf Board's properties were illegally leased and profit was earned. Along with this, the agency filed a chargesheet in the case in January and named four others, including three accomplices of Amanatullah, Zeeshan Haider, Dawood Naseer and Javed Imam Siddiqui. Amatullah Khan was arrested on September 2. Earlier, his house was raided and he was asked some questions which he could not answer properly and then he was arrested. Subsequently, he was remanded in custody till 23rd September i.e. till today, and now he has been remanded in custody till 7th October. These Aam Aadmi leaders are among the Aam Aadmi leaders arrested by the agency in various money laundering cases. These leaders include the names of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and former minister Satyendra Jain. However, Kejriwal, Sisodia and Sanjay Singh are now in jail on bail.
