A series of earthquakes hit Taiwan, the largest of which measured 6.1, causing panic
taipei: Several earthquakes were felt in Taiwan early Tuesday morning. In which the intensity of the strongest earthquake was 6.1, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said in a statement.
No injuries were reported in the quake, but there was further damage to two high-rise buildings that were evacuated after the 7.4-magnitude quake earlier this month. At that time, 13 people had died and 1000 people were injured due to the earthquake.
According to the USGS, the magnitude 6.1 earthquake that struck today was centered 28 km south of Hualien city and 10.7 km below the ground.
The other six tremors were between 4.5 and 6 magnitudes. All these tremors came near Hualien city.
According to Taiwan’s monitoring center, the intensity of the initial tremor was 6.3. The general variation in intensity recorded by different monitoring stations is typical.
