A rare auspicious event in Jagannath Ratha Yatra after 53 years, know what's special this time

The annual Ratha Yatra festival of Jagannath begins today (Sunday) in Odisha's Puri city. After 53 years, the journey took two days. Media reports that rare auspicious events are taking place on the Rath Yatra day this time. Dwitiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Ashada month is from 3.44 AM today to 4.14 AM on 8th July. Reports suggest that Sarwartha Siddhi Yoga is also developing this time. A Ratha Yatra will be held in this. Besides, Jagannath's Ratha Yatra is also turning out to be a rare coincidence for Shivavas. On this day Mahadev will be with Mother Parvati. According to calculations of planets and constellations, a two-day yatra has been organized this year, whereas a two-day yatra was last organized in 1971. In a departure from tradition, some rituals related to the festival involving the three brother-sister deities Jagannath, Subhadra Devi and Balabhadra will also be performed on the same day today. The Singhdwar Rathas of Jagannath Temple are parked in front of the Singhdwar of Jagannath Temple from where they are taken to Kundicha Temple. Chariots stay there for a week. Devotees will pull the chariot this afternoon. This year, Ratha Yatra and rituals like 'Navayavuvan Darshanam' and 'Netra Utsav' are held on the same day today. These rituals are usually performed before the Ratha Yatra. According to the special ritual known as Netra Utsav, the deity stays inside because of excessive bathing on Snan Poornima due to illness. Before Navayuvan darshan, the priests perform a special ritual called 'Netra Utsav' in which the eyes of the deities are painted again. Let us tell you that President Draupadi Murmu is also going to watch the Ratha Yatra along with lakhs of devotees on Sunday. The state government has made special arrangements for his visit. Officials said the Odisha government has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the yatra, which is usually conducted on a single day.
