Kenya vs South Africa: Kenya cause Huge Upset, beat Proteas by 70 Runs in African Games!

Batting first, Kenya scored 141 for 6 in their 20 overs. Collins Obuya, the veteran who played in the 2003 ICC World Cup, scored 58 runs off 47 balls. Current Kenya captain Rakep Patel scored 28 runs off 25 balls. For the Proteas, Heinrigh Pieterse picked up two wickets.

In reply, South Africa were bowled out for mere 71 runs in 15 overs. George Van Heerden scored 22 runs and only three others could go past the double-figure mark for the Proteas team.

Kenya’s Aarnav Patel bowled a magnificent spell, picking up 5 wickets for just 15 runs to break the South African backbone in the run chase. South Africa started steadily, but lost three wickets within 19 runs. Van Meerden and Keagan Lion-Cachet stitched a decent partnership of 36 runs for the fourth wicket, but after the former’s dismissal, the South African lineup broke down like a house of cards.

They lost their last seven wickets for just 16 runs as Kenya registered the historic victory over their African counterparts.

South Africa will take on Uganda in their next match while Kenya lock horns against hosts Ghana in their final group match.
