CUET UG may be postponed over Lok Sabha Elections clash: What we know
Here’s what we know so far.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced Lok Sabha polls from April 19 to June 1, with results expected on June 4.
This timeline clashes with CUET UG 2024, tentatively scheduled between May 15 and 31.
Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), hinted at possible changes in CUET UG exam dates, contingent upon the Lok Sabha elections schedule.
TENTATIVE CUET UG DATES AWAIT FINALISATION
According to Kumar, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will finalise CUET UG dates once the election schedule is confirmed.
While the UGC Chairman stressed that the announced dates by the NTA are tentative, the overlap with Lok Sabha Election dates raises concerns regarding logistical challenges and student convenience.
OTHER EXAMS IMPACTED
The NEET UG 2024, scheduled for May 5, faces a similar predicament as CUET UG, although no changes have been announced by the NTA yet. Unlike CUET, NEET UG is conducted in a single shift, potentially simplifying the rescheduling process.
Additionally, the May session of the Chartered Accountancy (CA) course exam conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has also been affected by the LS Polls, prompting ICAI to announce a revised schedule on March 19.
