DC VS RCB FINAL: WHO HAS THE EDGE?
In the build up to the ultimate showdown, both Lanning and Mandhana have their eyes set on the prize and that will be the maiden WPL title win. The Delhi Capitals finished at the top of the table in the league stage with 6 wins in 8 matches which propelled them straight into the final. Meanwhile, RCB stormed into the final by defeating the defending champions, Mumbai Indians, in the eliminator by just 5 runs.
In the last two encounters between the teams, Delhi got the better of Bangalore on both occasions. In the first match, Delhi had a comfortable win by 25 runs against Bangalore. However, in the next game, RCB lost by just 1 run in a last-ball thriller at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The nail-biting thriller has set up expectations of a blockbuster final between the 2 teams on March 17, Sunday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
Two Australians, Ellyse Perry and Lanning, will be in the race for the Orange Cap and will be key to their respective franchise’s fate on the night of the final. Perry has scored 312 runs in 8 matches and Lanning has 308 runs in the same number of matches. The Lanning-led side will hope to finally be able to cross the final hurdle after losing to Mumbai Indians in the final of the maiden edition of the league. Meanwhile, RCB will look to repay the love and faith shown to them by the fans, not just at the Chinnaswamy Stadium but also at the stadium in Delhi. The Mandhana-led side will also want to avenge their two losses to DC in the league stage and win the ultimate glory.
