Rahul Gandhi: Massive Traffic Jam on Delhi-Meerut Expressway as Rahul Gandhi Stopped by Police
A massive traffic jam paralyzed the Delhi-Meerut Expressway at the Ghazipur border on Monday after police intercepted Rahul Gandhi’s convoy. Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, was en route to Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, when his journey was disrupted. Commuters were left stranded for hours, with drone visuals capturing long stretches of stalled vehicles.
Political Tensions Rise Over Police Action
The incident has sparked criticism from Gandhi’s supporters and opposition parties, who allege that the move was politically motivated. Police officials, however, stated that the action was taken for security reasons. “We are following protocol and ensuring public safety,” an officer said.
Commuters Bear the Brunt of Blockade
Daily commuters expressed anger and frustration over the unexpected delay. “I’ve been stuck here for two hours. There’s no information or alternative route provided,” said a distressed driver. The massive gridlock disrupted schedules, with some vehicles stuck for over three hours.
Rahul Gandhi’s ResponseIn response to the blockade, Rahul Gandhi addressed the media, accusing the government of suppressing his right to travel and connect with the public. “This is an attack on democracy,” he remarked, urging the administration to allow him to continue his journey.
The situation remains tense, with police maintaining a strong presence at the border and efforts underway to ease traffic.
