Whereas Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei remains in the news. Actually, he also has a special connection with India and his ancestors are from a village in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh.
What is the special connection with Uttar Pradesh?
The ancestors of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei are from Kintoor village of Barabanki. This village falls in Sirauli Gauspur tehsil of the district. Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei’s grandfather, Seyed Ahmed Mousavi Hindi, was born in this village in the year 1790. After which he went to Iran and settled in Khamenei village there. Iran is a Shia majority country. There are more than one crore Shias in India also. The Shias here go to Iran and Iraq for religious pilgrimage. Their holy pilgrimage sites are here. During the Nabawi period, there was a good population of Shia Muslims in the Awadh region of India. Even today, the Shia community lives in large numbers in and around Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh.
Khamenei’s grandfather settled in Iran
Let us tell you that in the year 1830, at the age of 40, Syed Ahmed Musavi went to Iraq and then Iran on a religious trip with the Nawab of Awadh. After going to Iran, he did not feel like coming back from there and settled in Khamenei village there. After settling here, his son Ayatollah Mustafa Hindi was born. In 1902, Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei, son of Ayatollah Mustafa Khamenei, was born. People living in Kintoor of Barabanki told that Ayatollah Ruhollah Khamenei’s grandfather Syed Ahmed Moosavi Hindi was born here in 1790.
Gave controversial statement against India
In fact, recently the Supreme Leader of Iran had given a controversial statement against India. He had posted on social media accusing Indian Muslims of atrocities. He wrote on Instagram that if people are not aware of the suffering of a Muslim in Myanmar, Gaza, India or anywhere else then they should not consider themselves Muslims. The Indian Foreign Ministry had given a befitting reply to Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei’s statement. He also said that before speaking against Indian Muslims, they should look into their own conscience.
