JK Election: 98 percent Muslims… So what kind of threat is there to Islam? Why should Ghulam Nabi Azad say this?
Jammu and Kashmir Elections 2024: Voting for the first phase of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir has concluded. The second phase of polling will be held on September 25. Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leader Ghulam Nabi Azad took part in several rallies and road shows in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. During this, he openly spoke about Article 370, the issue of religion and Islam and competition between political parties. Ghulam Nabi Azad, speaking to reporters during a road show in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal, said that political parties are his rivals and not a specific person. He said that it is happy that the election is being held here but it is sad that the election issues have not changed. Even today schools and education are not an issue but Islam is in danger… this is the issue. Azad said there are 98 percent Muslims. There the opposition says Islam is in danger. DPAP leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, who fought bravely for Article 370, participated in a roadshow at the new sumo stand in Ganderbal. There he also talked about Article 370. Ghulam Nabi Azad said he fought bravely for Article 370 and statehood. “No one in Parliament knew that Article 35A existed before independence until I told them,” he said. After the road show, Ghulam Nabi Azad addressed a public meeting at Bihama Chowk. He said, 'I am happy that the elections are going to be held in Jammu and Kashmir but it is sad that it did not happen earlier. I thought the issues would change in this election but unfortunately the issues did not. He said that even now he is hearing the same slogans raised during the elections during his college days. Roads, schools and education are not the problem, but Islam is at risk. This is definitely an issue. How can Islam be in danger, he said. Ghulam Nabi Azad said there is no threat to the 5 percent Muslims there either. He said he opposes BJP because it divides people on the basis of religion, but here too people are doing the same. DPAB President Ghulam Nabi Azad further said that even in a country where the Muslim population is only 5 percent, there is no threat to them. But he also said that 98 percent Muslims are in Jammu and Kashmir. There they (Congress-JKNC alliance) say that Islam is in danger… Assembly elections are going on in three phases in Jammu and Kashmir. The first phase of polling was held on September 18. The second phase of polling will be held on September 25 and the third phase on October 1. The results will be declared on October 8.
