Pakistan News: Lieutenant General Mohammad Asim Malik becomes the new Director General of ISI, will take charge on September 30
New Delhi. Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has appointed Lieutenant General Mohammad Asim Malik as the new Director General of Pakistan's spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). He will take charge on September 30. Asim Malik is currently serving as Adjutant General at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

The post of ISI Chief is the most important in the Pakistani Army. The army has ruled Pakistan for more than half of the 77 years. The army has so far exercised its rights and power in many matters related to security and foreign policy. The ISI Chief is appointed by the Prime Minister in consultation with the Army Chief.
