A lost mobile can also be traced by changing the IMEI number
Live Hindi News :- E. Kaliraj, Director of the National Cyber Security Research Center, has said that a lost cell phone can also be found by changing the IMEI number. As cyber crime crimes are increasing in India, the central government is taking several initiatives to stop them. Awareness is also being created about cyber attacks. Last year, the Union Home Ministry launched a dedicated website to encourage public reporting against cyber crimes. Complaints related to cyber crime can be lodged through this website or on the toll-free number '1930'. A special committee has also been formed in the DGP office to monitor this.
Meanwhile, the central government has launched new schemes called Central Device Identification Register (CEIR) and Caller Name Presentation (CNAP) to prevent cyber crimes. E. Kaliraj, director of the National Cyber Security Research Centre, said: Most of the times when a cell phone is lost, it is an old cell phone. If it is lost, let it be. Many people will give up thinking that 'the lost will never be found'. Only a few will report to the police department. Since stolen cell phones can be used by thieves for various cyber crimes, it is important to report them.
There is also an opinion that even if a complaint is lodged with the police department, 'if the 15-digit International Mobile Device Identity (IMEI) number on the cell phone is changed, it will be difficult to trace it.' Through the 'CEIR' scheme launched by the Central Government, the IMEI number of the lost cell phone will be recorded in the CEIR register.
This 15-digit IMEI number always contains a secret code. When someone tries to change the IMEI number of a lost cell phone, the secret code in it changes and immediately sends a text message to the CEIR registry saying 'The newly changed IMEI number is incorrect.' The current location ('Location') of the person trying to change the IMEI number will go to the CEIR registry. The CEIR will send this information to the police station where the cell phone has been reported lost. Therefore, even if the IMEI number is changed, the lost cell phone can be traced.
'Truecaller' scheme to prevent fraud: Similarly, 'Truecaller' is a widely used mobile caller name app. In this, 'Truecaller' will display the same name on which the concerned caller has registered his name. Thus, even after registering as ED (Enforcement Department), CBI, some people commit fraud. To avoid this, a scheme called Caller Name Presentation (CNAP) has been implemented in the state of Maharashtra and Haryana.
In this, the caller cannot enter the name of his choice. It will show the name given in the 'KYC' form and the name of the SIM card purchased. Apart from this, no other information will be displayed. This scheme is expected to be implemented across the country next year. This is what he said.
