DRDO and the Indian Navy successfully test-fired a surface-to-air missile (Vertical Short Range Missile) on Friday. The short-range missile was test-fired from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha. During the test, the missile targeted a high-speed aircraft target flying at low altitude. The missile system, which exhibited state-of-the-art technology, accurately identified the target and successfully engaged it. The missile, equipped with modern technologies, is expected to promote more technology in the military. Through this medium, the proximity fuse and several advanced weapon system components will be tested. DRDO & Indian Navy have again successfully conducted flight tests of Vertical Missile Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VLSRSAM) on 12 & 13 September 2024.
