All the girls were going to study in Upkramit Madhya Vidyalaya Navka Tola. The two deceased girls have been identified as Kritika Mausam, 10-year-old daughter of Rajesh Kumar of Fatehpur Ward 8 and Swati Priya, 10-year-old daughter of Brahmadev Singh.

A speeding mini truck was going from Musrigharari to Muzaffarpur when it overturned in a ditch on the side of the road, crushing the girls standing on the side of the road.
