Shares soared on foreign investment, Sensex surged 361.75 points
Stock Market: On Tuesday 10 September 2024, the domestic stock market saw tremendous enthusiasm on the back of positive trend globally and foreign capital inflows. After a strong start in early trade, the benchmark Sensex of the Mumbai Stock Exchange (BSE) ended up 361.75 points, or 0.44%, at 81,921.29 points. Meanwhile, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty also gained 104.70 points or 0.42% to settle at 25,041.10. In morning trade, the Sensex opened 208.67 points or 0.26% higher at 81,768.21 points, while the Nifty opened 71.65 points or 0.29% higher at 25,008.05 points. Strong gains for NTPC: In domestic bourse trade, 22 out of 30 companies listed on the BSE Sensex were in gains. Among these, shares of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) have gained the most. Its stock gained 2.41% to close at Rs 399.35 per share. Gaining stocks include Bharti Airtel, HCLA Technologies, Tech Mahindra, Power Grid, Axis Bank, TCS, Adani Ports, Titan, Maruti Suzuki India, Infosys, Sun Pharma, Nestlé India, Larsen & Trubo, Tech Mahindra, IndusInd Bank, JSW. Asian Paints, ITC, HDFC Bank, Tata Steel and ICICI Bank. Apart from this, shares of 8 out of 30 companies on Bajaj Finserv BSE were in losses. In this, Bajaj Finserv suffered the biggest loss. Its shares fell around 1.77% to close at Rs 1826.00 per share. Among the losers were Bajaj Finance, Hindustan Unilever, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, State Bank of India, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Reliance Industries. There is also a negative trend in European markets. In US markets, the Dow Jones is weak, while the S&P500 and Nasdaq are trading strongly. In the international market, gold rose 0.09 percent to $2,508.92 an ounce. In the global oil market, Brent crude oil is trading down 1.25% to $70.94 per barrel.
