After a quarrel with her husband in Sitamarhi, Bihar, a woman along with her three children committed suicide by jumping into a pond
A shocking case of mass suicide has come to light from Sitamarhi district of Bihar. After a fight with her husband over the phone, a woman committed suicide by jumping into a pond along with her three children. Before committing suicide, the wife also set her house on fire. The mother and the three children died by drowning. The bodies of all four were taken out of the water and post-mortem was conducted.
According to the information, this incident took place in Shrirampur village of Bela police station area located near the India-Nepal border in Sitamarhi district. The deceased woman has been identified as 30-year-old Manju Devi. On Tuesday evening, she committed suicide by jumping into the village pond along with her three children. The children were aged between two and seven years.
When the bodies of all four were seen floating in the pond, someone informed the police. Sitamarhi SP Manoj Kumar told HT that this appears to be a case of suicide. Deceased Manju's husband Sanjeev Sah is a daily wage laborer. At the time of the incident, he was in Ludhiana, Punjab. The woman lived in the village with her three children.
The deceased's father Thaga Sah said that last night Manju and her husband Sanjeev had a fight over the phone. Sanjeev was in an inebriated state at that time. After the fight, Manju set her small house on fire. Then she went to the pond and jumped into it with the children.
SP said that it is suspected that the woman committed suicide by jumping into the pond along with her three children. However, the police is investigating the case from every angle. Due to the fire in the house, all the goods kept there were burnt to ashes. Police is also investigating the case of fire.
