WhatsApp will soon allow users to pin multiple messages in chats
However, this feature was initially limited to only one message. But soon, WhatsApp is reportedly planning to introduce the option to pin up to three messages simultaneously. This improvement will grant users more control over their conversations, allowing them to prioritise and highlight multiple important messages within a chat.
According to Wabetainfo, WhatsApp is testing the ability to pin multiple messages in chats in WhatsApp beta for Android, version 2.24.6.15. The update introduces a new interface designed to facilitate navigation through the list of pinned messages. This streamlined interface will ensure that users can easily access and manage their pinned messages, providing a seamless experience for organising essential information within chats.
The process of pinning messages is straightforward and similar to pinning chats. Users can pin the message on Android by tapping and holding the message, then selecting Pin and choosing the pin duration (24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days). On iPhone, users can tap and hold the message, tap More options, then select Pin and choose the pin duration (24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days). However, the platform will only allow three pins. So when a user tries to pin a fourth message, WhatsApp will automatically remove the oldest pinned message from the list.
This way, users will be able to highlight a variety of content, such as important announcements, key reminders, or frequently referenced information, ensuring that these messages remain prominently displayed at the top of the chat interface. This will not only streamline communication but will also help users to eliminate the need to scroll through extensive chat histories to locate important information.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp is also reportedly planning to increase the limit for pinning chats. Right now, WhatsApp introduced conversation pinning support in 2017, and users have been able to pin only three conversations ever since. Users can also pin three chats at the top. But soon, the platform will increase the pin limit to five chats, giving every user more flexibility and convenience, especially if they use WhatsApp frequently. Message pinning within a conversation is a relatively newer addition, introduced last year.
Notably, both features are currently available to some beta testers who install the latest update of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store. It is expected to roll out to a wider audience in the coming weeks.
Overall, these upcoming updates aim to provide a smoother and more manageable interface for users. By allowing users to pin multiple messages and chats, WhatsApp empowers them to streamline their conversations and keep crucial information readily accessible.
