Nabanna Abhiyan: Trinamool calls the proposed rally up to Nabanna illegal, BJP hits back.
Nabanna Abhiyan: West Bengal minister and Trinamool chief Chandrima Bhattacharya on Tuesday termed the 'Nabanna Abhiyan' rally proposed by student organization Chatra Samaj as illegal and an attempt to spread unrest in Kolkata on a large scale. The rally has been called to demand the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after a post-graduate training doctor was raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. Chandrima Bhattacharya said the police did not get permission for the rally and said it was a conspiracy by some elements to disrupt peace and stability in the state. Bhattacharya, along with Trinamool leaders Kunal Ghosh and Jayaprakash Majumdar, called for a rally on social media to hand over the investigation into the Dr. Baladkaram murder case to the CBI. Describing the demand for the chief minister's resignation as politically motivated, he said the student community had called for the rally on social media but had not informed the police about its plans. We all want justice for the victim and death penalty for the criminals. The demand for the case to be handed over to the CBI and the CM's resignation is politically motivated. Mamata Banerjee: Mamata Banerjee has written to the Prime Minister demanding a strict law against rape The CBI office showed a video of some Leftists including the CPI(M) and two people advocating violence for the victory of the rally. It is clear from these videos that what these people, mostly some Leftists who support CPI(M) along with right wing forces like RSS and ABVP, really want. They love violence. It was reported that people are being brought from other states to disrupt the rally and people are being brought from other states to disrupt the rally. Also, we have come to know that some people in the rally are wearing police uniform and firing at people to blame the police. Harbhajan Singh's fury over the Kolkata doctor murder case makes a major request to Mamata Banerjee not to forcibly include anyone in the rally: Samik Bhattacharya In response, BJP Rajya Sabha member and state spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya criticized a party member. He claimed that he had nothing to do with the rally and said that if he attended the rally, he would personally participate. He called them an expression of fear and desperation. The Akila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) had earlier clarified that it had not called for the march but extended its support to the pro-democracy movement.
