A big meeting of BJP was held at the residence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. In this meeting, the by-elections to be held on 10 Rajya Sabha seats in seven states were discussed and a strategy was prepared. According to sources, BJP will announce the names of the candidates by this evening. Tomorrow is the last day for filing nominations for the elections.
In the meeting, the top leadership of BJP said that the party will soon talk to the members of the parliamentary board and decide the names of the candidates. The political equations arising out of the by-elections were also discussed in the meeting. Especially the current situation of Bihar, Maharashtra and Haryana was discussed. There was a discussion with the leaders on how to handle the alliance partners in Maharashtra.
Seats in Lok Sabha have become vacant after winning MPs
These seats have fallen vacant due to Rajya Sabha MPs winning and becoming Lok Sabha MPs. Two seats are vacant from Bihar. One seat has fallen vacant due to the resignation of RJD’s Rajya Sabha MP Misa Bharti. The second seat has fallen vacant due to the resignation of Vivek Thakur. In a meeting, BJP has decided to send its ally Rashtriya Lok Morcha president Upendra Kushwaha from its quota. Today, Amit Shah and JP Nadda deliberated on the name of the candidate for the second seat.
BJP in-charge Vinod Tawde, Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal, organisation minister Bhikhubhai and both deputy CMs Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha were also present in the Bihar meeting. In Bihar, BJP has an alliance with JDU, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party HAM and Chirag Paswan’s LJP. What the people of the grand alliance think in such a situation was also discussed.
Two seats from Maharashtra too
Two Rajya Sabha seats are vacant in Maharashtra. By-elections are to be held on both of them. The first seat has fallen vacant after the resignation of Udayraj Bhosale and the second after the resignation of Piyush Goyal. In this Lok Sabha election, Piyush Goyal has been elected MP from North Mumbai. BJP will field its candidate on one seat here. While BJP has decided to give the second seat to NCP (Ajit Pawar).
Seats of Assam and Tripura were also discussed
Two seats from Assam have become vacant due to the resignation of Sarbananda Sonowal and Kamakhya Prasad Tassa. Himanta Biswa Sarma was present to discuss the names of candidates from Assam. At the same time, one seat from Tripura has become vacant due to the resignation of Biplab Dev. Amit Shah and JP Nadda discussed the name of the candidate with the Tripura CM.
One Rajya Sabha seat has become vacant due to KC Venugopal going to Lok Sabha from Rajasthan. BJP can send Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu to Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan. At the same time, one Rajya Sabha seat has become vacant in Madhya Pradesh due to the resignation of Jyotiraditya Scindia.
BJP may win one seat in Haryana
One seat has fallen vacant due to Congress leader Deepender Hooda being elected as a Lok Sabha MP from Haryana. It is believed that this seat can go to BJP’s account. One seat has fallen vacant due to the resignation of BJD’s Rajya Sabha MP Mamta Mohanta from Odisha, who has now joined BJP. This seat will also go to BJP.
