These need to be recharged first and only then can electricity be used. In rural areas, smart meters can be recharged from Vasuda centres. A Panchayat has a Vasuda Centre. But thousands of consumers of the entire panchayat cannot be recharged from one Vasuda Centre. Company representatives will go door-to-door for recharging, in which case the utility company will keep a representative in each village. These representatives will do the work of recharging the smart meter. Like people coming to take readings on normal meters. Similarly, these representatives will also go door to door to recharge the smart meters. In return the company will give them a commission. These representatives will be rehired by the agency.
