Dams broke, schools were submerged, national highways were flooded, and people were terrified by the raging rivers of Kosi and Ganges in Bihar.
Bihar Floods: Due to rising water level of Kosi and Ganges, floods have taken severe form in Kosi-Seemanchal and East Bihar. Dams have broken in some places and water has entered schools and government offices in some places. Not only the village roads, but also the national highway has been affected by floods. At Subal, the water level of river Kosi in the upper reaches was recorded as 02 lakh 23 thousand 755 cubic feet in ascending order. All 31 gates of the river were opened. Dam breaks in Kagaria The zamindari dam of Poorna panchayat of Kokri block of Kagaria broke on Tuesday morning. As the dam broke, flood water entered 300 houses inside the dam. All the houses were completely submerged. Due to the inundation of flood water, people are somehow taking shelter on higher ground to save their lives. Many people of the Panchayat were safe from floods due to the Zamindari Dam. But suddenly the dam broke and all the people got flooded. The newly constructed road was cracked in the Jakrithi Dhola Tumaria Kurd area of Ward No. 1 and 2 of Kapela Panchayat in Barbatta block. Traffic at the Kogri-Narayanpur dam was halted for 5 hours due to a crack in the road. Schools and health centers in Mungar district have been inundated and have started spreading to new areas. On one hand, many schools and health centers of Mungar Sadar and Pariyarpur constituencies have been inundated by flood water, while on the other hand, connectivity to more than two dozen villages has been severed. Flood water entered Jaffnagar Panchayat Middle School and Babu Ram Singh Dhola Middle School of Kudlupur Panchayat. Middle School Deewani Dhola and Middle School Pulkia Brahmastan of Pariyarpur block have also entered campus. Due to this, studies and all kinds of work in these schools have come to a standstill. Flood water entered Gudlupur Health and Wellness Centre. Many villages including Rahia village, Harijan Kalyan Dhola, Murla Mushari under Pariyarpur police station limits have been cut off from the main road. Amiya and Sorgaon panchayats of Asarganj constituency have been affected by floods. Not only Nathanarnagar village, but also Bengalitola and Champanagar areas of the city are getting flood water. Hundreds of houses have been inundated by floodwaters in dozens of villages including Amapur, Gulkulia and Pakrattalla of Kahalgan. 100 houses have been flooded in Sabur. Flooding on NH 80 has turned into a disaster. Water inflow has increased near the bridge construction area between Kankhita and Doshpur. Many vehicles fell in it. There are cracks in the road at many places. The flood water spread from the engineering college hostel to Ziauddinpur Chaukha, Babupur Rajntipur Chandnagar English Mazad Mamlaka Panchayat, Shankarpur, Baijalpur Panchayat.
