Laila Majnu re-release box office collection: Triptii Dimri film surpasses original run

New Delhi: Triptii Dimri and Avinash Tiwary's Laila Majnuwhich originally was released in 2018, has script history by surpassing the box office numbers of its original run in just four days. The film was re-released in theatres on August 9 and finally found its happy place. Laila Majnu tanked at the box office with collections of a little over Rs 2 crore in 2018 when it was first released. However, over the years, it developed a cult-like status with its music, writing and performances receiving critical acclaim.

With no new Bollywood releases last week, Laila Majnu earned Rs 75 lakh on Saturday (August 10) and hit the Rs 1 crore mark on Sunday (August 11). On Monday, the Triptii Dimri and Avinash Tiwary’s film earned Rs 60 lakh, bringing its total re-release collection to Rs 2.65 crore, surpassing its original earnings. The film opened with Rs 30 lakh, benefitting from low ticket prices due to National Cinema Lovers Day. The total collection of the re-released Laila Majnu now stands at Rs 2.65 crore.
In 2018, when the film was first released, it did a total business of Rs 2.18 crore. The film earned much appreciation when it was released on OTT, earning a loyal fanbase.

Laila Majnu is a romance drama starring Triptii Dimri and Avinash Tiwary. It is a modern-day adaptation of the classic folklore, Laila Majnu, written and presented by Imtiaz Ali and directed by his brother Sajid Ali. The film is shot mainly in Jammu and Kashmir. The music of the film is composed by Niladri Kumar, Joi Barua, and Alif. The songs from the film have also gained much popularity over the years.
