New Delhi: Indian President Draupadi Murmu is on a three-nation visit these days. She is in Timor Leste on the last leg of her visit. Here she was awarded the highest civilian honor of Timor Leste. On this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that it is a proud moment for the people of the country as President Draupadi Murmu was awarded the Grand Collar of Timor-Leste, and said that it reflects strong relations and mutual respect between the two countries. President Draupadi Murmu was awarded the country's highest civilian award, the Grand Collar of Timor-Leste, on Saturday. The award has been given for her achievements in public service and dedication towards education and social welfare and women's empowerment.

This honor is a reflection of friendly relations
After receiving the award, President Murmu said that this honour is a reflection of the friendly relations between India and Timor-Leste. President Murmu arrived in Timor-Leste on Saturday after concluding her visit to Fiji and New Zealand. In a special gesture, President Jose Ramos-Horta gave her a warm welcome at the airport. Besides, she was also greeted by happy children on her way from the airport.
Bilateral meeting with Timor-Leste counterpart
The President also held a bilateral meeting with his Timor-Leste counterpart in Dili today, which underlined the strong ties between the two countries. The two leaders also discussed opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation between India and Timor Leste. President Murmu's visit is the first head of state level visit from India to a Southeast Asian country.
Guard of honour was given
Murmu also addressed the Indian community reception in Dili. President Murmu was accorded a ceremonial welcome and a Guard of Honour at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Dili. The President's visit to Timor Leste comes at the invitation of President of Timor Leste Jose Ramos-Horta.
