Foreign Minister Jaishankar reached Maldives for the first time after the dispute, many important agreements were signed between the two countries

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Maldives President Mohammed Muizzu here on Saturday. The two leaders emphasized New Delhi's commitment to deepen India-Maldives relations for the benefit of the people. Also, several projects including water and sanitation were signed between the two countries.
Let us tell you that Jaishankar is on a three-day official visit to Maldives to strengthen bilateral relations. This is Jaishankar's first high-level visit from India after pro-China President Muizzu took office last year. Earlier in June, President Muizzu visited India to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government.
Jaishankar shared the picture
Jaishankar posted on Instagram along with a photo of the meeting and wrote, “Feel proud to meet President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu. Conveyed the best wishes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to him. Committed to deepening India-Maldives relations for the benefit of our people and the region.”
Also met with Defense Minister of Maldives
Earlier, Jaishankar met Maldives Defence Minister Ghassan Maumoon and discussed bilateral security cooperation and 'shared interest' in maintaining peace and stability in the region. Muizzu, known for his pro-China leanings, took over the top post in November 2023. Within hours of his swearing-in, he had sought the withdrawal of Indian military personnel deployed on three aviation platforms in the Maldives.
Jaishankar's last visit took place in January 2023
This is Jaishankar's first official visit to the Maldives since assuming office for a second term in June 2024. His last visit was in January 2023. Jaishankar's three-day visit till August 11 is taking place at the invitation of his counterpart, Maldives Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer.
