Muzaffarpur News: DRI Muzaffarpur team seizes large quantity of foreign cigarettes. The kidnapper was also arrested from the spot. The value of seized cigarettes is estimated at Rs 1.30 crore. The kidnapper also told about local contacts during the investigation. Based on that, TRI is investigating the connection of mafias related to cigarette trade in Muzaffarpur district. According to information that cigarettes were coming from Myanmar, DRI Muzaffarpur received confidential information that foreign cigarettes were being brought from Myanmar via Guwahati via Muzaffarpur. On getting information, a DRI team laid a trap near Maithi toll plaza on Sunday morning and stopped the Haryana numbered container for investigation. When the sealed container was opened, it was filled with a book. Cigarettes were hidden among the books. 8.50 lakh cigarettes valued at around Rs 1.30 crore were seized by TRI. All cigarettes are Korean and UK brands. UP smuggler Gunwarpal Singh was arrested from the spot. From there it was to be transported to Delhi via Muzaffarpur by container number Haryana. Gunwarpal Singh also gave the names of some other smugglers from Haryana and UP, who also have local contacts. DRI says there are several people associated with cigarette smuggling gangs in Muzaffarpur. Which are being investigated.
